I thought I would say hello from way down here in this hole that I have fallen into. I am not sure how I fell, but I have always been a little (a lot) clumsy and I could have just tripped over my own feet. Anyway, I have been down here a while and I didn't want the two or three people that may or may not stop by to see what Berd is up to to think that I had quit.

I haven't ... and Berd isn't up to anything. He has been laying on the couch eating salt and vinegar potato chips and watching CSI reruns on Spike. He thinks Gil is really cute and he finds it refreshing to see that others love bugs as much as he does.

I may hang here for a little while longer, but not forever. Later ...

You know how little children will cover their eyes believing that since they can't see you, you must not be able to see them? I am doing that right now. I hope its working.

Insects are a beautiful part of our world.

They fascinate me with their vibrant colors, intricate designs, strange habits, and durability.

I appreciate them for what they are: a necessary part of life and a key player in our ecosystem.

I keep my distance when I should and get up close and personal when I can.

Berd eats them.

Meet Stu. He is a fire breathing dragon. His hobbies are smiling really big, knitting scarves for his friends, eating spaghetti sandwiches, and drinking tea. His least favorite thing in the whole wide world is burning his tongue on a fresh cuppa tea.

Its just that he gets so excited at tea time that he gulps a bit too soon and, well, we all know the feeling, don't we. I suggested that he take a little sugar on his tongue to relieve it. It turns out that he is allergic to sugar - it carmelizes in his mouth and makes it stick together. That isn't good because you should know that Stu likes a good chit chat with his tea.

An FYI...Stu and I met in a knitting group. He is a much better knitter than me.

From Berd to all of you...

Tuesday, February 21, 2006

I thought this would be an easy one. Birds sing, right? brainer. Not with Berd. He had to go and get all Pavarotti on me...and collect a groupie, no less.

me: And who is the chick?

berd: silence

me: Do you have a girlfriend?

berd: silence

me: she has funny hair.

berd: evileye/silence/exit stage right

So, fine. This blog has gone right to his head and it has swollen up like a balloon.

I think I will wait over here in the darkness with a very sharp pin.

You made it to 18 and I am so proud of you. I love you, lots!

Berd was really excited when he heard the topic of Illustration Friday. Because, as you may know, hanging around looking simple is one of Berd's favorite things to do. He is very good at it, I might add.

He came to me to do the illustration, but was quite upset when I opened up Illustrator. He wanted it done in pencil because that is the simplest of all. I told him that I had to use Illustrator because I did not have a scanner at hand. He went off in great big, feathery huff. To be simple, he can be so complicated.

He soon came back and agreed to be digitally immortalized. So, here he is in all his simpleness.
